Dear Diary... 10/21/13

Dear Diary,

Today was my day off...I was able to sleep a couple of extra hours before brewing up some nice strong coffee and kicking off my day.  I spent most of the day with Shalom, our new mare (7 yrs old, 14.5hh, Arab/Quarterhorse cross).  I worked her in the round pen for a bit in the morning, then brushed her down, saddled her up and we took off for a ride...  First, we rode south across the open land behind the ranch, and then rode the 8 miles (round trip) to the get the mail.  Shalom is very herd-bound, which will take some curing, and she also seems to be less than thrilled at the idea of loping.  Walk and trot?  "No problem."  Canter? "oh, you mean stop suddenly, right?"  That'll take some work to figure out exactly why that is...  Things here continue to progress slowly.  I pray daily for direction and guidance.  This week, three verses have hit me:

Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. - 1 Corinthians 15:58

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. - Galations 6:9

We have a strong city; God makes salvation its walls and ramparts. Open the gates that the righteous nation may enter, the nation that keeps faith. You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal. - Isaiah 26:1-4
